The Cowboys are coming to Tallahassee after a shut-out loss to the Columbia Tigers (3-2) 21-0. The Tigers’ coaches noticed how undersized Madison County’s defense was — especially up front. “Our philosophy this week was that we’re gonna run the ball,” Jackson said. “We knew the strength of our team, particularly against Madison… I noticed they were real small and was like, ‘We’re gonna pound them.’.”1
Columbia averaged 5.1 yards on 41 carries for a total of 211 yards. Leading the pack was Tony Fulton (2023) who had 117 yards on 24 carries. The Tigers only threw the ball 8 times for a total of 50 yards.
The Cowboys lost to Fitzgerald High School (4-0) 20-12 two weeks ago. “[Jamie] Hampton led the Cowboys in rushing, with 103 yards on eight attempts and two rushing touchdowns. Hampton also went eight-for-16, passing for 58 yards. Ja’Ohn Jackson had 60 yards on six rushing attempts. Jason McDaniel was named the Defensive Player of the Week for his 12 total tackles. Jackson was named the Offensive Player of the Week. The Special Teams Player of the Week was John Christian. The “Hog” of the Week was Drake Terry.2
